It’s gone. Or, at the very least, it isn’t what you remember. Everything is different now. You were hoping for something you remembered, but that is impossible to find now. The buildings that grow higher than birds are devoured by the greenery. They haven’t crumbled yet, but they will. You know they will.
Once again, there is nothing here for you. Your desperate search for the familiar has bore no fruit. Still, some part of you recognizes that things could never go back to how they were. Your world has changed drastically in the last few days, finding your old home would have done nothing to remedy that.
The forest calls to you, with its sounds of life and sustenance. What is the city, but a reminder of a crueler life? After one last gaze, you turn around and head back to where you came from. You know that the forest will no longer think of you as an intruder. It will be your new home, maybe the home you always dreamt of having.
