You stop for a moment to catch your breath. The ground beneath you is soft mud, your feet sink into it. You don’t want to sit in mud, you don’t like the wetness. You can’t hear any other creatures around you. The forest is fully silent, not even the sound of breathing anywhere around you. It is the first time you feel truly alone in this forest.
You try to pull your foot up, ready to shake the mud off and start to move again, but you can’t. You pull harder to no avail.
